Dear Dr Wayne and Dr Mark, thanks SOOO much for caring for me and my aching back. I used to ride and feel back pain all the time. Now I have no pain when I ride and riding skills have improved to get me on the cover of a magazine!!!!
Before coming to OC Spine and Physical Medicine I was experiencing intense pain down the back of my right leg along with shoulder pain on my left side
Before coming to OC Spine and Physical Medicine I was having difficulty OR unable to
stand, sit or walk for more than 15 minutes at a time without intense pain. I was also unable to raise my left arm past my shoulder without pain.
Sleep was also difficult as the pain in my leg was so intense by the end of the day; it was difficult to fall asleep without pain meds.
Since starting care I have noticed that my pain is now diminishing to the point where I am able to forget about it most of the time and getting to sleep comfortably is much easier.
The pain had gotten so intense so quickly; within 6-8 weeks I went from minor pain to intense pain that kept me from normal everyday tasks. After 4 months of treatment, I am now able to return to my normal life and routine. I am a business traveler, and I am now able to travel comfortably again.
I am also no longer afraid of massages or chiropractic adjustments thanks to George and Dr. Ryan.
George successfully massaged away my frozen shoulder while Dr. Ryan and the rest of the staff worked on the rest of my spinal issues without the traditional cracking associated with chiropractic care.
You don’t have to live with back pain. If you are taking pain meds, you may be allowing the problem to get worse as you are only treating the symptoms rather than the cause. Go for an evaluation; they will let you know if they can help you or not, so there is no risk in trying.
While it took me a little longer to get relief from pain than I originally thought, it was worth doing because it is giving me my life back!
I am able to do more sports, to play better. Also I would be able to turn my neck more. I would say to someone if they were considering that it is totally required to go. It is not a wasted of your money. Also if you want to feel better I totally, absolutely recommend the OC Spine and Physical Medicine.
Thanks for Saving Me!
Before coming to OC Spine and Physical Medicine, I was experiencing intense back/neck pain for approximately one and a half years. During that timeframe, I could not sleep through the night without waking up with intense pain/stiffness in my upper back area. My quality of life was deteriorating.
I tried various treatments: Seeing an Orthopedic Doctor, “Therapy”, Acupuncture, getting an MRI, and general Chiropractic care but could not find relief. Honestly, I lost hope.
About five weeks into my treatment at OC Spine and Physical Medicine, I started to get a full night’s sleep without waking up in pain. The stiffness subsided and my quality of life greatly improved. I no longer needed any type of over the counter and/or prescription medication to relieve my pain!
I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Greathouse and Dr. Babiar, as well as the entire staff at OC Spine and Physical Medicine (Brittney, Abby, and George to name a few). They treated me like “family” and came up with a treatment plan that so many in the prior year and a half failed in.
Dear Dr. Wayne Greathouse
Recently, my wife and I had completed 7 months of your prescribed therapy. I can't tell you how happy we are with the results. We have no more problems with our neck, shoulders, upper back and lower back.
Our association with OC Spine and Physical Medicine began with a friend of mine who benefited from your therapy. His name is Randy B. I knew him for better than 37 years. I was in contact with him when he wrecked his back that required surgery. The surgery corrected some of the problem but did not stop the pain he was suffering. He was in continuous extreme pain for many years. It got to the point that the pain medication and the electronic stimulation did not work for him anymore, and needed to do something different, it was getting to the point that he could not take it anymore.
I did not hear from Randy for a time when he reached this point of intolerance for the pain. I was concerned and finally got together with him. I was amazed that he was not wearing his electronic stimulating device and was also off the pain medications. He explained that he was receiving therapy from the OC Spine and Physical Medicine, and that he was giving lectures regarding his spinal improvement at seminar-dinners provided by Dr Wayne Greathouse. I was intrigued about his spinal column improvement, because I knew how much pain he had been in for so long.
My wife Bertha was with me when Randy went into detail about the therapy and how it helped his condition. Due to my work schedule and distance, we were not able to make it to any of the seminar-dinner presentations.
Bertha and I have both been experiencing neck, back and hip problems for sometime, but due to our age, we didn't think anything could be done. After listening to Randy and observing his progress we had a change of mind.
Randy got me an evaluation appointment at the OC Spine office in June, 2012. I had x-rays performed and evaluated. I discovered that I did have two significant problems that could end up in bone fusion. One problem was in my neck, the other problem was in my lower back, where one or more of my vertebrates were growing bone, trying to bridge the gap.
This was scary because I worked with someone who has fusion of his neck vertebrates, causing him continuous pain and extremely limited movement.
During this visit I learned that my condition could be stabilized but not reversed. In other words, I cannot reverse the damage already done, but I could eliminate any more damage being done, as well as possibly eliminating or controlling the pain I was currently experiencing.
The method explained to me was "muscle memory" retraining. This was new to me, and further explanation revealed that throughout our life, what we do to our body such as injury or practice (doing things by repetition) stimulates muscles to "react to protect" or to form a memory of the repetitive act.
The "react to protect" form of memory is difficult to pinpoint and to identify because of the many injuries we suffer throughout life.
The repetitive muscle memory is easier to detect but just as difficult to address if effective methods are not used to address the problem.
Dr Greathouse has put together a very effective plan to address these various problem muscle memories.
First he made me conscious of what needs to be done. He did this by the x-ray evaluations. Where I was "tweaked", how much needed to be corrected, and by how much.
He then devised a plan which included stretching my entire vertebrate from neck to hips, relaxing my back muscles, and literally repositioning my vertebrate in their correct position.
I was so impressed that I made an appointment and brought my wife in the next day for an evaluation.
The procedure was rigorous and required dedication. We lived 40 miles from the clinic and needed to be there 3 times per week for 3 months. We were required to perform our series of exercises (weights, and stretching) two times per day, every day. It really helped because my wife and I would perform theses exercises together.
Because my wife and I worked hard and kept our appointments, we made rapid progress. The first thing we noticed was that our pain was decreasing rapidly, it became easier to walk and not so much neck pain. I noticed a significant posture improvement and flexibility in my neck. My wife noticed the same type of improvements. She was not as tired after work as she had been, and in spite of the distance traveled and time spent in these procedures, we were not as tired as we had been when we started the program.
The tools provided by OC Spine, are invaluable and will be used probably for the rest of our life whenever we feel we need a tune up.
The classes provided by OC Spine on how to stretch, how to have proper posture and balance, and how to exercise properly helped significantly.
Our commitment to this program paid off beautifully. Not only were we feeling better at work and home, our pain level decreased significantly and we actually seem to have more time together.
After three months of 3 times per week visits at the OC Spine clinic, we were allowed to visit 2 times per week for 2 months. In late October, we were allowed to visit 1 time per week because of our improvements.
Upon re-evaluation in November with new x-rays and consultation, we have progressed to our goal of maintaining what we have accomplished.
Our quality of life has significantly improved. To live daily without pain is worth the time and effort we put into this therapy. We will continue to do the exercises we learned with the equipment provided. Healthy bones, healthy muscles, healthy organs and healthy brain make for a healthy life.
This is a life time commitment for us. We wish to be as healthy as we can and make use of everything we learned with OC Spine and Physical Medicine Clinic.
Thank you OC Spine for the beginning of our second life, yours truly,
Dennis and Bertha H
I have had back and neck issues for as long as I can remember. I train in the martial arts and have been in several automobile accidents, all contributing to my low back and neck pain. Lying down on my back was especially painful. Since starting care my lower back pain is almost non-existent. The pain in my neck is also substaintially reduced. I am able to exercise now for longer periods and feel stronger. I have more energy and have a greater positive outlook regarding my health.
I highly recommend OC Spine and Physical Medicine. Everyone there is great and they really take good care of you. Don't wait to get better!
